I love photography even though I am not very good at it.
I have recently been thinking about adding to my lens collection.
I have the Older Canon 400D body which I purchased in 2007 with a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens and a EFS 50mm f/1.8 II (not the standard lens bundle)
Now it is time to add a telephoto into the mix and I let the salesperson talk me into real cheapie.
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens
I normal do a lot of research before I buy things and this time I didn't.
They have a 14 day replacement policy and I am considering it but what to buy is the big question.
Here are a couple of the better pictures taken with it on from the weekend
I also replaced my old compact a Nikon coolpix with a Panasonic TZ-6 as I need a throw it in my handbag camera.
The pictures are ok but the lag on compacts make it harder to capture great action shot with a busy toddler.
Works ok for stationary items.
How can you say you are not very good at photography when you manage to take such beautiful shots of C? I think the photos are just gorgeous. I wish my horrid point and shoot would take such good photos, but I am not willing to splash out the cash to get a new one so we will have to deal with it!

As the proud owner of one lens that didn't come with the camera (and that is the cheap 50mm that everyone has), I don't have any advice, but I'll be interested in what you end up with.
Also interested in how you find the Lumix - I had a higher end one (FZ30), and quite liked it. I am looking for a handbag camera too, thinking of the new water resistant canon...

Lara: I wussed out and kept the lens.
I will practice more and play with the settings. Then I can justify the mega bucks lens.
Cherry: you are too kind.
I jsut hate missing the shot. Whilst one or two for the shoot were ok I missed a dozen fabulous ones. I'll just have to exoeriemnt more.
